NEOTONY:
The retention of juvenile somatic and psychic traits into adulthood. Neotony is the mechanism, one form of heterochrony, that allows Axalotl salamanders to reproduce as tadpoles. This "procrastination" of maturation isn't a rare phenomena in nature.
